Casa Hogar Annual Fundraiser Event 2018

Amy Abbott Events proudly coordinated the Annual Casa Hogar Fundraiser Event 2018 in Los Cabos. This being Amy’s favorite event and charity, she has now supported the event for 8 years. Choosing a different venue annually, Flora Farms was this year’s selection and it was an absolute success.

A Dynamic Duo Leading The Event

John Henson has been our outstanding MC for 7 years along with Mike Miller, a Cabo San Lucas realtor, and a staple within our tight-knit community. These two magnificent guys engage so well together and when on stage, they are absolutely hilarious. John & Mike make raising funds to help the orphanage fun and painless.

Partners In Organization

The Casa Hogar Fundraiser In Los Cabos is an ‘Invitation Only’ annual event and hosts 225 attendees each year.
Major kudos to Board of Directors member Angie Castillo – my partner each year in the planning!
Angie Castillo has been committed to Casa Hogar since its inception ten years ago. Angie is originally from Oregon and comes from a corporate background, so her assistance with the logistics is always welcomed. We continue to marvel at the overwhelming success of this Los Cabos fundraising event and the great cause it serves.

 

The Vision For The Night

This year, I partnered up in the design with one of our Amy Abbott outstanding team members, Gabriela Curiel. I had a vision for channeling the Beverly Hills Hotel vibe, and wanted something tropical, but a little more vintage and glam for this Five Star Gala. Gabriela enlisted her best creativity and the help of Cabos best Vendors, and “Voila”: my vision came to life.

Thanks to the talented teams of Baja Boutique Rental Company, Del Cabo Event Design, Let it Be Events, C&R Event Design, Bells and Whistles Los Cabos, and the One and Only Pina Cate,  who created the lush and exquisite floral arrangements and our photo back drop. To add to the Vintage Vibe, we brought down a GREAT Fleetwood Mac Tribute band for the entertainment. Thanks to Jorge and Alex Castanada lending their skills for all sound, audio stage & lighting. Ximena Zermeno was our fabulous photographer.

A Community Of Giving At The Casa Hogar Annual Fundraiser Event 2018

If you know Cabo, you know Cabo’s peeps are into giving back. This year each and every one of Amy Abbott Events team members were involved in the event. Thank you to Lauren Lemke, Lynette Dow, Paola Franssen, Pamela Franssen, Ximena Perez and Martha Lomeli and Gaby Curiel for all of your assistance and for volunteering on the day of the event.

We also invited some of our favorite local planners to help us with the day of event and would like to thank,  Gaby Cobian of Vivid Occasions, Fatima Falcon of Momentos Cabo, Yarai Peregrino of Memories Weddings & Events, Luz Maria Ornelas and Alma Valens of Cabo Del Sol, and Ana of Ana and Jerome Photography, for collaborating with us to orchestrate the highly successful auction portion of the event.

Erika Lorenzo, Flora Farms Director of Events was instrumental in assisting & collaborating with us with respect to the venue and the intricate details. Erika and Chef Guillermo Tellez produced a custom menu just for Casa Hogar and Inspired by the Beverly Hills Hotel. The menu included:

Passed Appetizers

Pacific Oysters on the Half Shell,
Mini Shrimp Bloody Mary,
Crispy potato with Marinated Tuna, Avocado & Ginger Hummus & Cucumber Roll
Mozzarella, Basil & Tomato Roll and Deviled Eggs. (mmmm Yummy!)

First Course (Family style)

Smoked Bacon, Farm Egg, Lemon Ricotta, Avocado, & Farm Ranch Dressing,
Beet & Goat Cheese Salad, Arugula, Orange, Preserved Lemon & Herb Oil Seasonal Salad with Farm Seasonal Vegetables, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Lemon Vinaigrette Potato, Smoked Fish Torte w/ Paddle Fish Caviar, Citrus Cream & Radishes.

Main Course

Seared Baja Snapper with Black Beans, Bok Choy, Garlic & Balsamic Roasted Chicken with Seven-Herbs, Salsa Verde & Charred Lemons,
Spit Roasted Pork Shoulder with Red Onions, Mini Yukon Gold Potatoes, & Thyme Jus, Kale with Almonds, Tomatoes & Edamame Baked Mac & Cheese with Herb Bread Crumbs.

Desserts


Coconut Pot De Creme with Mango, Mexican Inspired Lava Cake, Profiteroles with Vanilla Ice Cream & Salted Caramel Sauce Kahlua Tiramisu. All of which were pure heaven!!

 

Our Angels

The Casa Hogar Annual Fundraiser is probably my favorite event of the year. It’s always a lavish and beautiful affair, in part because of the esthetic but also due to the huge hearts of our Casa Hogar Angels and supporters. This evening is as much about celebrating the orphanages big wins as it is about showing our deep appreciation to the generosity of our Angels.

For the past 7 years, Ed and Pat Peterson have been our NUMERO UNO Angels as they have sponsored the event, ensuring that 100% of the money raised for Casa Hogar goes directly to the needs of the children. Without their love, vision and financial contribution, Casa Hogar would not be where it is today.

Special thanks to our other Casa Hogar Angels:
Nancy and Richard Rogers, Willy and Sheri Jordan, Jack and Michele Lafield, Donna Saunders and Susan Aberbach, all of whom continue to support Casa Hogar each year. We could not do it without you!! Special thanks to Javier Mazoy for being the “Glue” that keeps Casa Hogar together and for presiding over the Casa Hogar Board.

Lastly, I’d like to personally thank Patrick & Gloria Greene who are the owners of Flora Farms, for their hospitality and incredible support. Flora Farms has such a community culture, so it was a perfect venue to host the big event.
