Sara & Steve | JW Marriott Los Cabos Wedding | Mexican-Themed Wedding

5/22/2018

Behind every wedding, there are many details to coordinate. When we combine our resources and creativity with our bride & grooms ideas, we are able to design a magical wedding. Here we share the beautiful Mexican themed wedding weekend that we did for Sara & Steve.

The Welcome Fiesta

On February 2nd, the wedding celebrations began with a Welcome Fiesta for all the guests. The JW Marriott Los Cabos was the chosen venue for this fun party. This hotel offers stunning ocean views from their spacious, beautiful terrace. As the guests trickled in, we welcomed them with freshly squeezed margaritas and a selection of home-cooked Mexican appetizers. Tacos, salad, rice, beans made up this authentic menu, using fresh organic produce from the local market.

Multiple Music Options

Guests loved that switched gears through the night by choosing different musical performances. The Mariachi was perfect to kick things off for the initial two hours. Then we introduced a DJ so our guests could loosen up and dance the night away.

Unique Moments

Sara & Steve chose to have most of the speeches at the welcome party. The guests appreciated this unique touch and it was beautiful to share some touching moments with all Sara’s and Steve’s friends.

Special words were spoken and memories enjoyed; it really was a perfect way to celebrate the marriage and set the tone for the weekend.

Believe it or not, there was a gentle rain shower that night. This is very unusual for a Cabo wedding, but an omen of good luck for the bride and groom. What a fun story to relate after the wedding – the guests were worried as they watched the clouds form overhead. Luckily, only a few raindrops fell and so all that was left to do was laugh, enjoying the views, the margaritas and the music.

This Welcome Party was undoubtedly a special moment for Sara & Steve that I loved coordinating.

Mexican Themed Wedding Day

February 3rd, 2018 was Sara & Steve’s wedding day. The chosen ceremony location was JW Marriott Beach. While they wanted a beach venue from the beginning of our planning, Sara & Steve also wanted to incorporate a farm vibe. It was important to Sara to have a variety of dining experiences. JW Marriott was the perfect venue for them because they allowed us to do the ceremony for all their guests and then move all the guests to cocktail and reception at Flora’s Farm.

Wedding Ceremony

The actual ceremony was beautiful. We incorporated a lot of Mexican details like bougainvillea in the hoopa arch and at the entrance of the ceremony. Petate (a traditional Mexican material) runners adorned the long walkway waiting for Sara as she made her entrance to the ceremony. Sara was breath-taking as she made her way down this dramatic runway, made especially for her.

Flora Farms

Sara, Steve, and all their guests were transported to Flora’s Farm for cocktails and the wedding reception. Everyone was welcomed with signature wedding drinks. This was a colorful and bright night. Sara wanted to extend the Mexican vibe from the ceremony to the reception, so the Flora Farm barn was set up with special lighting just for our bride & groom. We hand-made string lights with copper stars, and we decided to do all the dancing and bar service inside of the barn. The eclectic Mexican vibe was enjoyed by all the guests.

Cocktails ‘n’ Donkeys

A friendly local ‘burro’ came to greet guests during cocktail hour, so all the guests took photos and signed the guestbook. We worked hard to create an intimate feeling throughout the wedding reception while staying true to the Mexico-inspired theme.

Barn Décor & Dancing

The barn was the perfect dancing area, as the evening turned out to be a bit chilly. We used all the outer lawn area and mango grove to set up beautiful wooden tables, to enhance that farm-to-table wedding vibe. I loved working with Sara as she wanted to incorporate lots of different colors and flowers: gold tones, fresh flowers & succulents were everywhere. Most importantly, Sara & Steve wanted to create unique, special menus for all their guests.

Dessert Table & Late-Night Feasts

All the bride & grooms favorite sweet stuff made for a delectable dessert table. In addition to this, we have a fun late-night snack surprise: a s’mores station! Guests were invited to create their own s’more sandwiches and enjoy all night. It was a super cute touch.

A Special Wedding Weekend

This wedding weekend was truly memorable, not just for Sara & Steve but for all the guests. Steve had a permanent smile on his face as he and Sara danced the night away (Pay homage to Sara’s amazing wedding gown!).

I thoroughly enjoyed coordinating this magical wedding weekend and I wish Sara & Steve all the love & happiness in the world.
